what to wear | the newborn.

February 7, 2019

One of my goals for this year is to share more blog posts with tips on how to prepare for sessions. In 2017, I put together this post on what to wear for the new mama, and I send it out with my last minute details just before my sessions. This time around, we’re talking about how to dress your newborn…

Typically, when baby arrives, they’re swimming in most 0-3 month clothing, so I recommend just a simple white onesie. Over the past few years, though, I’ve found some other options. I’m working on adding some of these newborn basics to the collection of blankets I bring to each session, and thought I’d share my favorites in case you want to purchase something for your little one!

LOVED BABY

Gowns are always my favorite thing to dress a newborn in in those first few weeks when you’re changing diapers constantly — they’re easy access. Loved Baby’s organic gowns are so sweet (those pockets!). Their kimono bodysuits are also great, but the real winner are the organic cotton sleepers. My youngest was gifted one when he was born, and they quickly became my go-to pajamas.

MABO

Another favorite of mine are the darling organic cotton leggings and tee shirts from Mabo, a small scale clothing boutique based out of Utah. The quality is excellent, and the detail so sweet. Baby will live in this little ensemble…

LOU LOU & COMPANY

With their extensive collection of solid and patterned knit stretch blankets (which are huge and soft and amazing!), knotted nightgowns, and dainty headbands, Lou Lou is a favorite one stop shop. While, I’m a fan of the neutrals and solids, this is a great place for you to express your style :)

ADEN + ANAIS

This post wouldn’t be complete without a nod to the staple Aden + Anais swaddle blankets. In so many different patterns and styles, these blankets are everywhere. I’m particularly a fan of the Silky Soft Muslin (which is actually made from bamboo). I use the solid white bamboo swaddles for the majority of my sessions. They will forever be a favorite!

Happy shopping all the cute baby things, my friends :)
